AI Threatens These Jobs: Microsoft Study
Artificial Intelligence's global leadership has sparked concerns about the future of work. A Microsoft study has shed light on which jobs are most at risk due to AI's increasing presence.
The study found that professions heavily reliant on communication and knowledge, as well as those involving repetitive, digital tasks, are most affected. These include interpreters, translators, historians, sales representatives, and customer service roles. Notably, software development, data analysis, and accounting are also significantly impacted, with software development seeing the most transformation. Even jobs involving manual labor or caring for people could be indirectly affected in the future.
AI's advance is irreversible and noticeable, causing concern among various sectors. Microsoft conducted the study using data from its chatbot to understand AI's applicability in different labor activities. It introduced the AI Applicability Index, which measures how productively AI can be used in specific types of work. AI currently supports daily tasks in affected professions, such as translations, text generation, and query management.
While AI's impact is most noticeable in communication, knowledge, and digital tasks, its reach could extend to manual labor and caring roles in the future. The study serves as a wake-up call for industries to adapt and prepare for the changing job market landscape.
