AI's latest proprietary model reportedly excels GPT-4 in six performance measures
In the ever-evolving world of artificial intelligence (AI), 01.AI is making significant strides towards reshaping the landscape. The company, under the leadership of CEO Kai-Fu Lee, has recently introduced its latest offering, Wanzhi, an AI-powered productivity application.
At a press conference on May 13, 20XX, 01.AI unveiled their first closed-source model, 'Yi-Large.' With a staggering trillion parameters, Yi-Large outperforms GPT-4 across six benchmarks, positioning 01.AI as a key player in the AI industry.
Huang Wenhao, a prominent figure at 01.AI, emphasizes the scaling law as a guiding principle towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). This principle necessitates optimization of model efficiency and quality of training data, a focus that is evident in the development of Yi-Large.
01.AI's business strategy is unique, involving a dual-track approach. The company uses both open- and closed-source models across domestic and international markets. This strategy allows 01.AI to cater to a wide range of needs while maintaining a competitive edge.
Lee, the CEO of 01.AI, shares overseas achievements as preliminary validation for the product-market fit of their offerings. One such achievement is Wanzhi, which has undergone overseas trials and boasts tens of millions of global users.
Wanzhi is available on WeChat's mini-program platform, enabling collaboration across multiple terminals. The application offers conversational search capabilities and multimodal understanding, generating results in various chart formats.
One of the standout features of Wanzhi is its ability to empower users to process slide decks on mobile phones during fragmented times, synchronizing work progress with other devices. This feature, coupled with its chat-based interaction and graphical interface functionality, reshapes the landscape of office productivity tools.
Lee also emphasizes the need for large model developers to transition into a 'long-distance running mode.' This means focusing on sustainability and continuous improvement rather than short-term gains.
In addition, 01.AI aims to generate RMB 100 million (USD 13.8 million) in single-product revenue this year, with the Wanzhi product line being a significant contributor to this goal. The pricing for the Yi-Large API is RMB 20 (USD 2.7) per million tokens, less than one-third of GPT-4 Turbo's price, further highlighting the affordability and accessibility of 01.AI's offerings.
Lee's contemplation led to the concept of TC-PMF, a balance between the technical path and inference cost for products in the 1-100 stage. This concept underscores 01.AI's commitment to creating efficient and high-quality AI solutions.
After nine months online, Wanzhi has nearly tens of millions of users. With its innovative features and commitment to quality, Wanzhi is set to revolutionize the way we work, making productivity more accessible and efficient than ever before.
