Allianz Life Confirms Massive Data Breach Affecting 1.4 Million Customers
Allianz Life has confirmed a data breach affecting nearly all of its 1.4 million customers. The breach, which occurred on July 16, 2025, exposed personal information of customers, financial professionals, and some employees. The company has linked the breach to the notorious ShinyHunters group, known for selling stolen data from major organisations.
The breach happened when a threat actor gained access to a third-party customer relationship management (CRM) system using social engineering tactics. Allianz Life has taken immediate action to contain and mitigate the breach, and has notified the FBI. The exposed data includes names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and Social Security numbers. The company is offering dedicated support to affected individuals.
This breach is part of a recent string of cyberattacks targeting insurance companies. Aflac, another major insurance provider, was also hit by a data breach earlier this year.
Allianz Life customers are urged to monitor their personal information and credit reports closely. The company is working diligently to investigate the incident and strengthen its security measures to prevent future breaches. The FBI is also involved in the investigation.
