Altena Expands Personal Wi-Fi Capacity
Deutsche Telekom AG has made exciting announcements regarding improvements in its WLAN services and the availability of fiber optic connections in the town of Altena, Germany. The announcements, made on September 19, 2025, aim to significantly enhance internet speed test for households and businesses in the specified areas.
Customers can book these improved services online, by phone, or in a store. For new and existing Telekom customers, as well as small and medium-sized businesses, the phone numbers are 0800 330 0000, 0800 330 1000, and 0800 330 1300, respectively. These services are available for free phone inquiries.
In Altena, over 60 percent of households can already book a fiber optic connection from Telekom. The company is offering fiber optic connections with up to 1 Gbit/s to over 8,600 households in Altena. In the districts of Mühlendorf, Hahn, and Schlade, Telekom has increased bandwidth for over 380 households, with the maximum download speed increasing to 250 Mbit/s.
The new system technology installed by Telekom is located in the grey boxes on the street in Muhlendorf and Bachstraße. The upload speed for these households has increased to 40 Mbit/s from 10 Mbit/s. The improvements are expected to provide ultra-fast internet speed test, potentially supporting such speeds.

The responsibility for expanding the WLAN bandwidth in Altena, especially in the districts of Mühlendorf, Hahn, and Schlade, may fall under the jurisdiction of local municipal authorities in cooperation with regional or county-level organizations involved in digital and climate initiatives within the Märkischer Kreis area.
