Amazon inaugurates inaugural fulfillment center in Abu Dhabi to fortify online retail industry
Amazon has launched its first fulfillment center in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant step in the emirate's aim to position itself as a regional and global hub for smart trade and innovation. The new center, located in Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), reinforces Amazon's commitment to supporting the UAE's digital economy.
The state-of-the-art facility combines advanced automation with infrastructure to help local businesses expand online. Nearly half of the center is dedicated to sellers using Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA), enabling same-day delivery on a wider selection of products across the UAE.
Ronaldo Mouchawar, the center's Vice President, stated that it sets new standards for online retail. The Innovation Lab, housed within the center, incorporates analytics-driven processes to reduce consumption and cuts process lead times by 59% across more than 500 tests. The lab also features 3D printing systems, ergonomic tools, and advanced package testing.
The new center enhances Amazon's operational footprint in the UAE and is part of a broader initiative to strengthen Abu Dhabi's logistics and e-commerce ecosystem. ADIO's Badr Al-Olama stated that the center would create new opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) while advancing priority sectors such as retail, wholesale trade, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The launch of the Amazon fulfillment center in Abu Dhabi is not related to any legal cases, incidents, or events mentioned. It underscores Amazon's ongoing efforts to support the growth and development of the UAE's digital economy.
