Anbernic Unveils Budget-Friendly RG476H Android Gaming Handheld

Anbernic, a leading manufacturer in the retro handheld gaming market, has revealed the final details about its latest offering - the RG476H. This new handheld device is set to join the ranks of other Android gaming handhelds, offering a great gaming experience at a budget-friendly price.

The RG476H comes with a 4.7-inch 120Hz display, powered by the Unisoc T820 chipset. This combination provides a smooth and responsive gaming experience, although it may not win any performance awards. The device also boasts 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD.

The RG476H is an affordable alternative to other handhelds in the market, with a pre-order price of $149.99, and a retail price of $164.99. During the pre-order period, opening on September 19, the RG476H will be available at a discounted price.

In terms of connectivity, the RG476H offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. It also features USB-C DisplayPort Out, Active Cooling, Anbernic AI, and Hall Effect Joysticks with RGB. The device uses the same 4.7-inch LTPS display as the RG477M and RG Slide.

One area where the RG476H differs from its pricier counterparts is in its ability to play games. While it can play a lot of the respective PS2 and GameCube libraries, some games may require tinkering or may not work at all. It can also squeeze a bit of Switch emulation out of the T820, but it's best for less graphics-intensive games.

In comparison, devices like the AYANEO and AYN, with their Snapdragon 8 Elite chips, offer better performance for more demanding games. However, these devices come at a higher price point, often above $300.

Ignoring budget constraints, the RG476H, along with the RG34XXSP, Lenovo Legion Go 2, ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X, and the Pocket FIT and Odin 3 from AYN, could form a "superfecta" of handhelds for various gaming and emulation scenarios.

In conclusion, the Anbernic RG476H offers a solid gaming experience at an affordable price. While it may not offer the same level of performance as more expensive handhelds, it provides a great option for those looking to dip their toes into the world of Android gaming without breaking the bank. Pre-orders for the RG476H open on September 19.
