Anticipated enhancements in outdoor workout tracking for the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 4 have been leaked, promising an exciting upgrade for fitness enthusiasts. Can't hold my excitement for the trial run!

The Google Pixel Watch 4, set to be unveiled at an upcoming Made By Google event on August 20, is shaping up to be a powerful contender in the smartwatch market. With two size options – a 41mm and a 45mm model – the watch boasts a notable feature: a bright Actua 360 AMOLED LTPO display that reaches up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, ensuring excellent outdoor visibility[1][3][4].

Battery life has seen a significant improvement in the Pixel Watch 4. The 41mm model offers approximately 30 hours of battery life, even with the always-on display enabled, while the larger 45mm model promises an impressive 40 hours[1][3][4][5]. Additionally, the watch offers 25% faster charging compared to its predecessor, the Google Pixel Watch 3, and new side charging support[1][3][4][5].

One of the most exciting hardware upgrades is the introduction of dual-frequency GPS, a feature common in top sports watches and smartwatches like the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. This technology uses both L1 and L5 satellite signals to provide more precise and reliable location tracking, especially useful in challenging environments[3]. This improvement will undoubtedly enhance the accuracy of fitness tracking and navigation.

The Pixel Watch 4 will also benefit from the Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 processor and a new M55 co-processor designed for handling more AI tasks at lower power consumption. This supports deep integration with Google’s Gemini AI for voice commands (“Hey Google”), AI-generated responses, fitness guidance, and smartwatch smart features[1][3][4][5].

Health and fitness tracking is comprehensive, with features like ECG, blood oxygen (SpO2), heart rate variability (HRV), breathing rate monitoring, and new features like loss of pulse detection and fall detection for safety. The watch supports over 40 exercise modes, real-time stats, and customized workout plans[1][2][3].

The LTE model of the Pixel Watch 4 includes two years of free Google Fi Wireless data (US only), enhancing connectivity when on the go[1][3]. The watch is expected to be available for purchase in September or October, with rumoured pricing between $349 and $399, though this may be subject to change[2].
