Apple initiates European Self-Repair Service for Devices
Apple has announced the launch of its Self Service Repair program in Europe, making it easier for customers to carry out repairs on their own devices. The program, which is already available in the United States, is now accessible in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK.
The Self Service Repair Store provides access to more than 200 individual parts and tools, as well as repair manuals, all of which are the same ones used by Apple's network of authorized repair providers. This means that customers can now repair their devices using the same high-quality parts and tools as those used by professionals.
For those who prefer not to carry out the repairs themselves, a global network of more than 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Providers supports more than 100,000 active technicians across Europe. Eight out of 10 Apple customers are located within 30 minutes of an authorized service provider, making it easy to find professional help.
Apple will offer tool rental kits for $49, which can be used for a weeklong period. These kits include torque drivers, repair trays, display and battery presses, and more, all custom designed to help provide the best repairs for Apple products.
Customers can purchase genuine Apple parts and tools for self-repair through the Apple Self Service Repair Store. In addition, customers can send replaced parts back to Apple for refurbishment and recycling, and in many cases receive credit off their purchase by doing so.
Jeff Williams, Apple's chief operating officer, stated that the program is launched to provide customers with many options for safe, reliable, and secure repair. He emphasized that for inexperienced customers, visiting a professional repair provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts is the safest and most reliable way to get a repair.
Over the past three years, Apple has nearly doubled the number of service locations with access to genuine Apple parts, tools, and training. In addition, there are more than 4,000 Independent Repair Providers with access to Apple's services.
The program enables customers to complete common repairs for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups, and Mac notebooks with Apple silicon. In December 2022, Apple expanded its Self Service Repair program to include customers in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Spain, in addition to the previously available countries.
Apple is committed to expanding access to repairs and increasing product repairability over time through Self Service Repair. By providing customers with the tools and resources they need to repair their own devices, Apple is empowering them to take control of their technology and make it last longer.
