Automaker Geely to Introduce Five New Vehicle Models by Mid-2025
In a bold move, Geely Auto, the Chinese automaker, has announced its plans to launch five new hybrid models in the second half of 2025, as revealed by CEO Gan Jiayue at the company's mid-year business conference. This decision comes as part of Geely's continued push into electrified models.
The new models include the Zeekr 9X SUV, Lynk & Co's Lynk 10 EM-P sedan, Geely Galaxy A7 sedan, and Geely Galaxy M9 SUV. There is a possibility that the last unmentioned model could be the 8X SUV from Zeekr.
Geely's ambition is clear, as the company aims to support its new sales target of 3 million vehicles annually, a 11 percent growth from its initial target of 2.71 million vehicles. This increased target was announced on July 1.
The first half of the year has been a success for Geely, with the Geely brand selling 1,164,303 vehicles, a 30% increase year-on-year. Geely Galaxy, another brand under Geely Auto, saw even higher growth, with 548,408 vehicles sold, also a 30% increase year-on-year. Lynk & Co, another subsidiary, sold 154,137 vehicles, a 22% increase year-on-year.
In addition to these impressive sales figures, Geely has also seen a significant increase in the sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). PHEV models accounted for 214,348 units of Geely's sales in the first half of the year, a 61% increase year-on-year.
Moreover, Geely has made strides in the electric vehicle (EV) market, selling 510,803 pure electric vehicles in the first half of this year, a 173% increase year-on-year.
The company also announced the unveiling of the industry's first AI agent-powered car cockpit, further demonstrating its commitment to innovation and technology.
To meet its sales targets, Geely Auto plans to sell 1,590,820 vehicles in the second half of the year, averaging 265,137 vehicles per month. This aggressive sales strategy reflects the company's determination to achieve its annual sales target of 3 million vehicles.
In the first half of the year, Geely Auto sold a total of 1,409,180 vehicles, up 47% year-on-year. The company also sold 90,740 Zeekr vehicles, a 3% increase year-on-year.
