Zest Opens Electric Vehicle Charging Facility in Oscott, Birmingham

Zest, a chargepoint operator based in Leeds, has partnered with Birmingham City Council to open a new electric vehicle (EV) charging facility in Oscott, Birmingham. This development is part of the city's efforts to build a cleaner, greener city and contributes significantly to the UK's transition towards sustainable transport.

The EV charging station, located on the junction of the Aldridge and Birdbrook roads, comprises rapid charging spaces designed to accommodate a variety of electric vehicles. The facility is an important addition to Birmingham's growing EV infrastructure, which is crucial in encouraging more residents to switch to electric vehicles.

Birmingham City Councillor Darius Sandhu hailed the opening of the facility as an "important development for a cleaner, greener Birmingham." The facility is also part of Birmingham City Council's latest round of EV chargers, aligning with their green transition aims.

Zest's community charger aims to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the transition to sustainable transport. The company, which works in partnership with local authorities and the real estate sector across the UK, is committed to providing the necessary infrastructure for sustainable transport.

The EV charging facility in Oscott is not the only project Zest is involved in. The company has also partnered with Birmingham City Council for the installation of EV chargers elsewhere in the city. These efforts are recognised at the CiTTi Awards, an unmissable event for the UK's transportation sector.

The fourth annual CiTTi Awards will be held on 26 November 2025 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. The awards aim to recognise achievements and innovations in EV charging infrastructure, among other things. More information about the CiTTi Awards can be found at www.cittiawards.co.uk.

As the UK continues to transition towards a greener future, initiatives like the one in Oscott are crucial in promoting the adoption of electric vehicles. With partnerships like the one between Zest and Birmingham City Council, the UK is well on its way to a sustainable, cleaner future.
