Bloggers face legal action for alleged libelous content
In a recent move, Nio, the Chinese electric vehicle company, has taken legal action against several prominent bloggers for alleged defamation. The targeted accounts, which are active on social media platforms like WeChat, Weibo, and Douyin, include notable figures such as 海闲思录, @大D有态度, 阿文鉴机, 山丘下的星星, 你真是个傻孩子, 至尊宝哥哥, and ιοиδ шÁ [1].
Among these, @大D有态udo, with 444,000 followers on Weibo, is a well-known supporter of Li Auto, frequently posting content in support of the company [1]. This legal action comes after a surge of online accounts spreading false information about Nio and its sub-brand Onvo, just as the Onvo L90 SUV was set to officially launch on Jul 31 [3].
Nio's legal department stated that this false information caused significant reputational damage. In response, Nio has intensified its legal efforts against defamation by suing additional social media accounts accused of "maliciously defaming the brand" and spreading false information [2].
It is important to note that the L90 SUV, a product of Nio's sub-brand Onvo, is set to officially launch on Jul 31 [3]. Despite the legal action, @大D有态udo has expressed his intention to actively defend himself in court [1].
