BMW M Motorsport Unveils 2026 M Hybrid V8 Updates and New Partnerships

BMW M Motorsport has revealed plans for its M Hybrid V8 endurance race car, with updates and new collaborations on the horizon. The car, a flagship in BMW's motorsport division, will see changes for the 2026 season and expanded partnerships.

BMW has confirmed its commitment to the M Hybrid V8 project, with the car set to compete in both the FIA WEC and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from 2026. BMW M Team WRT will handle the car in these series, following a successful collaboration with chassis supplier Dallara for aerodynamic improvements.

The M Hybrid V8, not street-legal, is an LMDh prototype designed for various circuits. It will participate in a joint test at the Circuit of the Americas in September 2023, showcasing its updated front-end with a slightly smaller grille, redesigned front splitter, and rerouted airflow for better cooling efficiency and consistent performance. BMW M Motorsport is also exploring future collaborations, with talks ongoing with potential partners such as WRT and BMW M Team RLL.

The BMW M Hybrid V8, a symbol of BMW's commitment to endurance racing, will undergo updates and expanded partnerships starting from the 2026 season. With its participation in the joint test at the Circuit of the Americas, fans can expect to see more of this powerful prototype in the coming months.
