Formula E Partners with Google Cloud for Revolutionary Live Broadcast System

In an exciting development for the world of motorsport, Techex and Google Cloud have joined forces to create a cutting-edge, cloud-based production environment for Formula E's live broadcast and media infrastructure. This partnership brings together Google Cloud's advanced technologies, such as AI, machine learning, data analytics, and edge computing capabilities, with Techex's technology platform to support next-generation cloud-based media production.

The collaboration offers several key benefits for Formula E:

  1. Secure, low-latency live workflows: This allows for real-time global broadcasts of Formula E events with minimal delay and high security.
  2. Scalability and agility: The cloud-based system enables Formula E to rapidly scale production resources up or down and respond to evolving production demands effectively.
  3. Software-defined production: Moving to a software-defined platform enhances flexibility and efficiency in the production supply chain.
  4. Improved data-driven insights: Using AI and machine learning helps optimize broadcast quality and viewer experience through advanced data analytics.

The deployment of Techex's tx edge platform, which was successfully integrated into Formula E's vendor-agnostic environment, took only a few weeks. This platform provides the live IP transport layer across Formula E's media workflows, securely delivering feeds to the organisation's global partners via Techex's media asset management platform.

Justin Grayston, Google Cloud's head of customer engineering for UK/I media and entertainment, commented on the collaboration, stating that cloud-based solutions are crucial for media industry innovation. He further added that the collaboration aims to meet Formula E's requirements for a scalable, secure, and flexible cloud infrastructure.

The collaboration also aims to improve the delivery of live broadcasts for Formula E's championship and future-proof media operations. The tx edge software, provided by Techex, is used for the organisation's media asset management platform, enabling the ingestion of secure camera and programme feeds. The ingested feeds are then delivered to Formula E's global production partners, ensuring high-quality, low-latency live video feeds are delivered globally.

The tx edge platform is now available through Google Cloud Marketplace, marking a significant step forward in the integration of cloud technology in the world of motorsport.

  1. This revolutionary live broadcast system in Formula E, fostered by Techex and Google Cloud, leverages data-and-cloud-computing, technology, and media asset management to offer low-latency, scalable, and software-defined workflows for improved media production and data-driven insights.
  2. With the deployment of the tx edge platform, Formula E can now deliver high-quality, secure camera and program feeds globally, showcasing the power of media asset management technology in the sports industry, now accessible through the Google Cloud Marketplace.
