Cadillac Experiences a Peak Performance Not Seen in Almost Two Decades

=====================================================================

In the ever-evolving automotive landscape, Cadillac is making significant strides in the electric vehicle (EV) market. Despite the disappearing incentives and a shift in plans for a fully electric lineup within five years, the American luxury brand remains committed to its EV vision.

According to the latest reports, Cadillac's EV sales in the U.S. totaled approximately 11,795 units in Q2 2025, marking a 61.7% increase compared to Q2 2024. This growth is noteworthy, given a 31.2% decline quarter-over-quarter in the flagship model, the Lyriq (5,017 units in Q2 2025 vs. 7,294 in Q2 2024). Other models like the Escalade IQ, Optiq, and the newly introduced Vistiq have contributed to this growth, with the Optiq selling 3,224 units and Vistiq 1,744 units in Q2 2025.

In Canada, Cadillac sales increased by 7.5% in Q2 2025—its best quarter ever there—with EVs driving a 38% increase in GM EV sales overall, led by the Cadillac Optiq as the bestseller.

Comparatively, the overall U.S. EV market experienced a slight year-over-year sales decline of 6.3% in Q2 2025, indicating that Cadillac's EV sales growth is outpacing the broader U.S. EV market, showcasing relative strength in its segment.

Cadillac's EV sales volumes remain smaller than top EV competitors like Tesla but show positive momentum fueled by expanding EV model offerings. The Lyriq and Optiq models are number one in their respective segments, and the 2026 Lyriq-V, the first electric V-Series model, is launching in the coming weeks.

Sales in California, a key market for EVs, are up 16%, and over 60,000 Lyriq units have been sold in the last three years, with most deliveries occurring in the last two years. The three-row Vistiq and the smaller Optiq are now available in dealerships.

Brad Franz, Global Marketing Director of Cadillac, recently stated that the first half of the year has been the automaker's best in nearly 20 years. The V-Series is attracting younger buyers and more affluent customers, with a trend towards male buyers.

In summary, Cadillac is improving its position in the EV market, especially in Canada, but still faces tough competition in the larger U.S. EV market. However, the brand's commitment to EVs, coupled with its growing portfolio and strong sales performance, positions it well for continued growth in the future.
