Camden Launches Virtual Loading Bays to Fight Congestion, Improve Air Quality
The Camden Virtual Loading Bays (VLBs) project has taken off, aiming to tackle congestion and enhance air quality in the local area. This initiative, part of the expanding VLB network, involves dedicated kerbside spaces for efficient, safe, and sustainable deliveries.
The VLB network is growing, now including the City of London Corporation, London Borough of Camden, London Borough of Lambeth, and London Borough of Richmond. These VLBs are pre-bookable spaces designed to streamline deliveries, reducing traffic and emissions.
The Cross River Partnership (CRP) is expanding its VLB Trial across London. Two VLBs have been launched in the London Borough of Camden, in collaboration with Grid Smarter Cities. Katherine Fairfax, project manager at CRP, expressed her delight at the launch of these VLBs.
The Camden VLBs project is part of a wider effort to improve London's air quality and reduce congestion. With the support of various institutions and organizations, including Imperial College London, University College London, Transport for London, and local boroughs, the potential for virtual loading bays to revolutionize urban logistics is significant.
