The MG IM5 sedan and IM6 SUV, two mid-size electric vehicles by MG Motor, are set to hit Australian dealerships in the coming months, offering a premium electric driving experience.

Features

Both the IM5 and IM6 boast a 2.9 meter wheelbase and advanced aerodynamic designs for efficiency. The interior of these vehicles is equipped with a massive 23-inch digital display for instruments and infotainment, similar to that used in the Porsche Taycan, as well as a centrally-mounted 10-inch touchscreen. The onboard systems are supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, optimised for the Australian market.

Advanced driver assistance features include one-touch parking maneuvers and a "rainy night mode" that uses AI to improve night driving in wet conditions. The IM5 offers a sportier saloon with a hatchback-style tailgate, while the IM6 is a coupe-SUV with up to 665 litres boot space. The IM6 sits on a dedicated 800V EV platform, supporting super-fast charging up to 396 kW.

Performance and Range

The IM5 with the 100 kWh dual-motor setup can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds, while the IM6 Long Range version offers up to 625 km range with a single motor rear-wheel drive, and the dual-motor trim provides about 504 km. Energy-efficient design enables around 3.2 miles per kWh efficiency.

Pricing and Delivery

The IM5 Platinum is priced at AUD 69,990 with a range of 655 km, and the IM5 Performance is priced higher at AUD 80,990, with a slightly lower range of 575 km. For the IM6, UK prices (reflective but not exact for Australia) are about £47,995 (~AUD 78,000) for the Long Range, £50,995 (~AUD 83,000) for Performance, and £52,995 (~AUD 86,000) for Launch Edition. Australian pricing has not been officially stated yet.

First customer deliveries are expected to commence in September 2025. Both models come with a seven-year warranty when serviced within the IM dealer network.
