The East Europe Electric Route project, an initiative to install 60 high-capacity electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) routes in Romania and Greece, is set to enhance cross-border EV connectivity. Funded by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the project will see PPC blue, a part of Public Power Corporation (PPC) Group, deploy these charging points with €2.76 million funding from the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility under the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF) program.

The project includes 28 fast charging points (minimum 150 kW) for light-duty vehicles and 32 ultra-fast charging points (minimum 350 kW) for heavy-duty vehicles. These charging points will be strategically placed at 29 locations along key axes of the TEN-T corridors in both countries. In Romania, PPC blue will install 44 of the 60 charging points, with 12 fast and 32 ultra-fast stations, while the remaining stations will be located in Greece.

PPC blue's involvement in the project advances seamless electric mobility on major European routes, improves connectivity between member states, and accelerates the transition to low-emission transport by addressing the needs of both light and heavy vehicle electric transport flows. The company's contribution also expands its network in Romania, enhancing national e-mobility infrastructure coverage and supporting transport decarbonization and urban pollution reduction.

In addition to the charging points for EVs, the East Europe Electric Route project will also install ultra-fast DC charging points to accommodate heavy-duty vehicles. PPC blue will install 32 ultra-fast DC charging points of a minimum capacity of 350 kW in Romania, and the remaining charging points in Greece.

PPC blue Romania, currently operating charging points with a total installed power of over 14,000 kW, offers integrated electric mobility solutions to residential customers, companies, and public institutions throughout the country. The charging points installed by PPC blue in Romania will be installed on European routes, further strengthening the EV infrastructure in both countries.

The East Europe Electric Route project is part of the CEF’s AFIF program, with the company set to receive up to EUR 2.76 million as part of this funding. The installation of these charging points will support the growth of electric mobility in Europe, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable transport future.

The East Europe Electric Route project, with its focus on installing charging stations for electric vehicles, extends to the realm of various industries, including finance, as it securs €2.76 million funding from the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility. Moreover, the technology sector plays a crucial role in the project, with the deployment of high-capacity chargers and the installation of ultra-fast DC charging points catering to energy-intensive heavy-duty vehicles.
