Chinese powerhouse Chery is revving up its engines to storm the Romanian market, joining forces with AUTO ITALIA Group, part of the Samelet Group. Hold onto your seatbelts,Romania, because the TIGGO SUV lineup is gunning for a second-half 2025 debut!

This move sends a thunderous rumble through Chery's expansion plans across Central and Eastern Europe. With a presence in over 110 countries and more than 15 million global users, of which 4.5 million outside China, the brand isn't holding back on spreading its automotive wings further.

Chery's European incursion is built on a technology-driven strategy — pure electric, hybrid, and internal combustion vehicles are the engines (pun intended) fueling this global force. The automaker aims to play by European rules and compete toe-to-toe with established automakers.

"AUTO ITALIA and Samelet Group feel proud to represent Chery in Romania," said Adrian Narcis Ghiță, CEO of AUTO ITALIA Group. To start, the focus will be on plug-in hybrid models.

Zhang Shengshan, Deputy General Manager of Chery International, shared, "Our cooperation with European partners is a monumental step in Chery's globalization strategy. We're here to sell cars in Europe, but we also aim to put down roots and develop a sustainable business ecosystem with our local partners."

Expect Chery to prioritize the launch of the fourth-generation TIGGO7 and TIGGO8, both powered by Chery Super Hybrid (CSH), in 2025. Its European Research and Development Center in Frankfurt plays a crucial role, ensuring the development of vehicles tailored to European regulatory and market requirements.

Established in 1997, Chery has risen to become one of China's largest automotive companies, mastering hybrid and electric systems, intelligent cockpits, and modular platforms. With over 18,000 engineers worldwide, this brand isn't slowing down. In 2024, Chery sold over 2.6 million vehicles globally, marking a 38% increase compared to the previous year.
