Commvault Acquires Satori Cyber to Enhance Data Security Capabilities

In a strategic move, cyber resilience and data protection solutions provider Commvault has announced its plan to acquire data and AI security company Satori Cyber. This acquisition is set to be finalized in August 2025.

The integration of Satori's technology will significantly enhance Commvault's capabilities, providing enterprises with a robust solution to address challenges in AI adoption, data growth, and regulatory compliance in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Satori's technology includes features for monitoring large language models (LLMs) and automating the management of structured data. This will bring cloud-native, agentless innovations for data security and AI-aware protection and recovery to Commvault's platform.

With this acquisition, Commvault aims to offer a unified approach to securing sensitive data and AI pipelines, from discovery to governance and access management to cyber recovery. The integrated AI capabilities will provide deeper visibility, automated discovery, and stricter access management for structured data, particularly data used in AI training and LLM pipelines.

The acquisition will also enable real-time monitoring and control of sensitive data in motion without agents, enabling scalable security and governance across diverse cloud-native platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.

Enhanced AI security capabilities, including LLM monitoring, prompt tracking, and governance to ensure compliant and secure use of AI training data, will address emerging risks unique to AI adoption.

Moreover, the acquisition will simplify compliance efforts for enterprises managing data sprawl and regulatory compliance across hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments. A unified platform will reduce vendor complexity, improving compliance, risk mitigation, and data access governance.

Combining Satori’s structured data controls with Commvault’s unstructured data discovery and policy management will expand protection coverage and cyber resilience at the data layer. This integration will improve compliance support, reduce risks, and manage access to sensitive data.

Rajiv Kottomtharayil, Chief Product Officer at Commvault, discussed the integration of next-generation AI capabilities into Commvault's cyber resilience platform. Eldad Chai, CEO and Co-Founder of Satori, emphasized the importance of comprehensive oversight of information assets as businesses incorporate more AI-driven processes and expand their data footprints.

This acquisition positions Commvault to tackle the growing complexity of securing accelerating data growth and AI projects in distributed cloud environments, meeting the heightened regulatory and operational challenges enterprises face today.
