Data center, Comfico makes purchase of Ivi following cooling process

In a significant move, Italian cooling systems leader Cofimco has announced the acquisition of Ilmed Ventilazione Industriale (IVI), a company with nearly four decades of experience. This strategic move aims to bolster Cofimco's presence in data center cooling, naval construction, energy generation, and high-intensity industries.

The union of Cofimco and IVI, both focusing on the naval sector and energy production, is part of an international growth strategy promoted by PX3 Partners, a London-based private equity fund that has controlled Cofimco since 2023.

Cofimco's expansion includes Asia and North America, with a production plant in Ningbo, China, being a strong point in the Asia-Pacific region. In line with this growth, the company is setting up a new plant in Houston, Texas, to serve the dynamic North American market for digital infrastructure and renewable energy.

The global HVAC market, according to Allied Market Research data, could exceed $60 billion by 2032. Within this market, the data center cooling systems sector is projected to grow significantly, with a current value of around $16.8 billion and a potential to exceed $42 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 12.4%.

The growth outlook for liquid cooling, a subset of data center cooling, is even more dynamic, with a projected CAGR of 33% until 2032. Key factors fueling this growth include the rising power density in data center racks, efficiency and sustainability benefits, water conservation benefits, and the economic viability showing ROI within 2-4 years despite higher upfront costs.

The global data center liquid cooling market was valued at approximately USD 4.21 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 15.9% from 2025 to 2033. Immersion cooling, a subset of liquid cooling, also shows strong growth potential, valued at around USD 1.49 billion in 2024 and expected to reach about USD 6.45 billion by 2032.
