DoorDash and Flytrex Launch Drone Delivery Service in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex

As of August 2025, DoorDash and Flytrex have introduced their drone delivery service primarily in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex in Texas. The service targets suburban areas such as Frisco and Little Elm, reaching over 30,000 households and more than 100,000 residents [2][5].

The collaboration between DoorDash and Flytrex marks the first third-party app integration for Flytrex. The drones, capable of carrying up to 6.6 pounds, are the largest in the area, and the service offers the region's most expansive operating hours [3].

Yariv Bash, CEO and co-founder of Flytrex, stated that drone delivery offers speed, affordability, and convenience for suburban families [6]. Customers in parts of Little Elm and Frisco can order food from dozens of local and national restaurants through the DoorDash app.

DoorDash's drone delivery service in DFW is part of their broader strategy to build a multi-modal delivery platform through strategic partnerships with autonomous technology providers like Wing and Coco Robotics. In addition to DFW, DoorDash has integrated drone delivery in wider regions such as Southwest Virginia and Charlotte, North Carolina, but the collaboration specifically with Flytrex is focused on DFW and its surroundings [1].

Flytrex has implemented advanced drone traffic control technology, enabling safe management of flight paths via automated systems [4]. The drones drop off deliveries at established drop-off points at public and communal locations throughout the coverage area. The pilot program has already completed over 1,000 deliveries, demonstrating strong consumer adoption and satisfaction [7].

Meanwhile, other companies are also investing in drone delivery. Amazon is planning to expand drone delivery to Arizona, with operations expected to begin later this year. Walmart is expanding its drone delivery capability in 5 major cities in partnership with Wing [8].

In a move towards sustainability, Meijer is using drone technology for sustainable purposes, donating $250K to improve Midwest waterways and beaches [9]. As drone delivery continues to grow, it's clear that companies are focused on making the technology safe, efficient, and environmentally-friendly.
