Digital triumph persists in Liechtenstein with eID.li 2.0, the latest chapter in their digital success saga

In a significant stride for Liechtenstein, the digital identity platform eID.li has been upgraded to version 2.0, positioning the country as a leader in digital ID solutions. This upgrade brings key improvements in security, user experience, and EU-wide compatibility.

The enhanced security measures of eID.li 2.0 incorporate advanced cryptographic protocols and multi-factor authentication, ensuring strong user identity verification and protection against fraud. These enhancements align with modern cybersecurity standards, bolstering trust and data integrity during digital transactions.

For a smoother user experience, eID.li 2.0 offers a more intuitive interface, faster authentication processes, and expanded service integration. Citizens can now access government and private sector services digitally with greater ease, reducing administrative burden and wait times.

eID.li 2.0 also boasts EU-wide compatibility, complying with the eIDAS Regulation (electronic IDentification, Authentication and trust Services). This interoperability allows Liechtenstein digital IDs to be recognized and used throughout EU member states, fostering wider acceptance and easier access to services across Europe.

The development of eID.li 2.0 has been overseen by Youniqx Identity, a subsidiary of the Austrian OeSD, which has been responsible for the platform since its introduction in 2020. The modular development approach of eID.li enables customers to accelerate the introduction of digital identities and digital government apps.

The eID.li app is now available in both German and English for better accessibility. It offers digital credentials such as the mobile driver's license or the digital border crossing confirmation. During the COVID pandemic, eID.li integrated the international vaccination certificate into the official eID, simplifying its use.

Activating new ID documents has become easier and faster within the eID.li app. Helmut Lackner, CEO of Youniqx Identity AG and General Director of OeSD, states that eID.li 2.0 has been delivered, marking a significant milestone. Lackner emphasizes the importance of both security and user-friendliness in digital identity.

eID.li 2.0 is prepared to implement future requirements quickly and efficiently, including the upcoming eIDAS 2.0 regulations. The platform is designed to meet the requirements of the EU-wide eIDAS wallet. Youniqx Identity is proud to contribute to making digital identity a reality in Liechtenstein.

In 2023, eID.li received official notification from the EU, marking an important step for Liechtenstein. The development of eID.li 2.0 positions Liechtenstein as a leader in digital ID solutions, setting a high standard for other countries to follow.

The enhanced security of eID.li 2.0 incorporates advanced technology such as cryptographic protocols and multi-factor authentication, ensuring strong protection against fraud and identity verification.

This technology also facilitates the app's EU-wide compatibility, allowing Liechtenstein digital IDs to be recognized and used throughout EU member states, fostering wider acceptance and easier access to services across Europe.
