Dispute over eager iPhone 17 buyers leads to physical altercation at Mumbai Apple retail outlet, captured on video

The much-anticipated launch of the iPhone 17 series in India has been marked by massive crowds and long queues at flagship stores in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. The series, which includes the iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, regular iPhone 17, and the all-new iPhone Air, is now available for purchase at official Apple stores and authorized resellers.

However, the launch has not been without incident. A fight broke out at the Apple store in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) during the launch, with at least two individuals engaging in a physical altercation outside the store. PTI reported that the situation escalated to the point where security personnel were required to intervene and restore order. In the PTI video, at least two individuals were removed from the crowd by security personnel.

The exact cause of the altercation remains unclear. Mohan Yadav, a buyer from Ahmedabad, stated that people were breaking lines due to a lack of responsibility among security officials. Shoppers in Mumbai and Delhi have blamed the chaos on inadequate security.

In a contrasting scene, Bengaluru saw long queues for the iPhone 17 series, though the situation was calmer than in Mumbai. Buyers in New Delhi waited overnight to secure the new iPhones.

Interestingly, the iPhone 17 series has also reportedly been a smash-hit in China, with people queuing outside Apple stores. Despite the new models being available on e-commerce platforms, customers gathered in large numbers to purchase the new iPhone 17 models.

Apple has not named the individual involved in the scuffle at the BKC Apple store. The company has not issued a statement regarding the incidents at the launch events.

Despite the occasional hiccups, the iPhone 17 series has been launched in India at prices ranging from Rs 82,900 to Rs 230,000. The new iPhones are now available for purchase, with many eager customers hoping for a smoother buying experience.
