The CEO of Tech5, Machiel van der Harst, was present, as was the Vice-President and Regional Manager of Government Solutions for the CEMEA zone at Visa. Tech5's Chief Executive Officer and Vice-President for the Middle East and Africa were also part of the delegation.
The Ministry Delegate in charge of Digital Economy and Innovation (MDENI) of Djibouti, Minister Mariam Hamadou Ali, emphasized that this MoU with Visa is a significant step in accelerating Djibouti's national digital transformation. The partnership aims to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through technology-driven innovation and inclusive digital services.
The National Digital Wallet project, which is set to launch soon and is known as #Smart_Wallet, is a key component of this partnership. The project aims to provide citizens, entrepreneurs, and residents with secure access to public services, digital payments, and digital identity solutions.
