DOE Loan Request Filed by Mullen for Advanced Technology Vehicles
Mullen Automotive Pursues U.S. Expansion in Electric Vehicle Battery Manufacturing
Mullen Automotive, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced its commitment to transitioning electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing and related components within the United States. The company's subsidiary, Mullen Advanced Energy, is spearheading this expansion, with plans to establish a high-energy battery manufacturing facility in Fullerton, California.
To support this capital-intensive project, Mullen Advanced Energy has submitted a pre-application to the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing (ATVM) Loan Program. The ATVM loan process involves a series of steps, with Mullen's submission marking the first step towards potential funding.
The proposed expansion at Mullen's Fullerton facility will significantly increase the company's domestic battery manufacturing capabilities. Mullen Advanced Energy seeks funding to produce approximately 150,000 battery packs through 2032, which will support Mullen's EVs currently assembled in its Tunica, Mississippi-based plant.
Mullen Automotive appreciates the vision of Congress and the federal government in providing resources for the establishment of U.S.-based battery manufacturing. The funds from the ATVM Loan Program will be instrumental in realising this vision, as they will help lessen U.S. dependence on foreign oil and contribute to the production of EVs that meet higher mileage requirements.
It is worth noting that there are no relevant search results that provide information on the support Mullen Advanced Energy, LLC has applied for from the US government to advance its expansion in battery pack manufacturing in the USA.
David Michery, CEO and chairman of Mullen Automotive, expressed his enthusiasm for the proposed expansion, stating, "We are committed to transitioning EV manufacturing and related components in the U.S., and this expansion is a significant step towards achieving that goal."
As the electric vehicle industry continues to grow, so does the demand for domestic battery manufacturing. Mullen Automotive's foray into this sector is a testament to the company's commitment to innovation and sustainability, and a promising development for the future of the EV industry in the United States.
