Dune: Awakening Introduces Update to Recognize and Reward Players' Involvement in Landsraad with a "Game Changer" Adjustment

In an effort to level the playing field for all players, Funcom has released Patch 1.1.15.0 for Dune: Awakening, introducing significant changes to the Landsraad tasks system. This update, which was rolled out in early July 2025, has been met with widespread approval from the player community, particularly on platforms like Reddit.

One of the most notable changes in the new patch is the modification of Landsraad tasks. Previously, rewards were solely allocated to the faction that completed a task first, a system that favoured large guilds with quick completions. However, the latest update enables players to continue earning personal contributions for kill and delivery tasks even after a task has been completed by a faction. This means that while the overall faction victory and voting power remain unchanged, individual players from smaller guilds or less dominant factions can still earn rewards for their efforts post-task resolution.

The response from the player community has been overwhelmingly positive. Many players have hailed the update as a "game changer" and a much-needed "fix", as it makes the endgame more enjoyable and accessible for everyone, not just large guilds. The update increases participation and fairness in the Landsraad system by rewarding individual effort more consistently.

Here's a breakdown of the changes:

| Aspect | Before Update | After Update | |--------------------------|-----------------------------------------------------|----------------------------------------------------------| | Task completion rewards | Only the faction that completed the task first gets rewards | Players can earn personal contributions even after the task is completed | | Impact on faction victory | Directly tied to who finishes task first | Unchanged; faction wins still depend on who completes first and guild votes | | Player/guild experience | Favoured large guilds with quick completions | More inclusive, rewarding smaller guilds and late contributors | | Community response | Some frustration from smaller guilds | Positive, called a "game changer" and appreciated by many players |

The new patch also focuses on balance updates and tweaks to PvP zones. For instance, the delay when leaving the security zone in PvP zones has increased from five seconds to 30 seconds, aiming to prevent border camping and allow PvP players to protect their area.

With over one million players joining Dune: Awakening in its first two weeks, the game is being considered a potential candidate for the list of the best MMORPGs, provided the developers continue at their current pace. However, a section of players is disappointed that Funcom has not yet addressed the bug causing items to disappear from the Ornithopter inventory.

Despite this, the recent momentum in updates by the Dune: Awakening developers is being praised by the community, with many lauding their efforts to strengthen player engagement and competitiveness in the complex political endgame represented by the Landsraad system.
