Emirates Bans In-Flight Use of Power Banks from Oct 1, 2025
Emirates has announced new safety measures for passengers flying from October 1, 2025. The airline has banned the use of external power banks on its flights, with strict rules on carrying and storing them.
Power banks can no longer be used onboard Emirates aircraft. They must be carried in checked baggage, not hand luggage. However, carrying them in checked baggage is also prohibited. Passengers are advised to fully charge their devices before departure, especially for long flights.
Emirates allows passengers to carry one power bank under specific conditions. It must have a capacity less than 100 Wh and be labeled with its capacity. The power bank should be kept in the seat pocket or under the seat in front of you, not in the overhead bins. Charging the power bank from the onboard outlet is strictly prohibited.
All Emirates aircraft have power outlets for charging devices. Keeping power banks in accessible places in the cabin ensures the crew can respond quickly in case of an incident.
Emirates has implemented these new rules due to the risk associated with power banks and the increase in incidents involving lithium batteries on aircraft worldwide. Passengers are urged to comply with these safety measures to ensure a secure flying experience.
