Energy-driven haptic experience: MS Wissenschaft presents future showcase in Münster
Gear up for a Future Energy Revolution this June in Münster! ✨🌟
From the 10th to the 12th of June, 2025, the heart of Münster will be buzzing with conversations about the future of energy, sustainability, and technology. Yep, you guessed it! The mighty MS Wissenschaft, a floating science center, will be docking in the city as part of the 2025 Science Year - Future Energy. This event is not only for science fanatics, but for families, school kids, and anyone curious about the world of science - and let's not forget, it's completely free! 🎟🎉
Dive into Interactive Exhibits: Let's Rethink Energy
The MS Wissenschaft's doors open daily from 10:00 to 18:30. Inside the ship's hull, visitors can explore around 30 mind-bending exhibits. From renewable energies, energy storage, and distribution, to consumption and climate protection, these stations aim to make science engaging, accessible, and fun! The brilliant minds behind these exhibits are researchers from all over Germany. 💪🔬
Future Market on June 11th: Münster's Brainiacs Reveal Tomorrow's Tech 🔮⚙️
But wait, there's more! On Wednesday, June 11th, the upper deck of the MS Wissenschaft transforms into a "Future Market" themed "Science Under Power". From 12:00 to 16:00, the University of Münster, FH Münster, the MEET Battery Research Center, the Institute for Geoinformatics, MExLab Physics, Q.UNI, the REACH Start-up Center, and the Stadtwerke Münster will showcase their cool projects! Expect interactive stations, demos, AR applications, Lego models, and serious games! 🕺💃
The MEET Center will introduce a hands-on potato-powered electric generator. FH Münster will exhibit an AR installation for home biogas use. The Windscope project by the Institute for Geoinformatics simulates wind farms using AI, AR, and Lego. In the serious game "PowerUp", visitors can optimize a virtual energy grid based on CO2 emissions, costs, and acceptance. 🌏🎮
Together for a Greener Tomorrow: Education, Research, Start-ups, and Utilities in ACTION!
Alongside the MEET Center and FH Münster, don't miss the REACH start-ups, Stadtwerke Münster, MExLab Physics, and Q.UNI. They'll showcase innovative solutions like the "INCONSU" system for intelligent heat control in buildings and the "SonnenMieter", a smart billing system for shared solar power systems. Stadtwerke Münster will also talk about new district heating initiatives and share insights on their deep geothermal explorations. MExLab Physics brings exciting experiments for kids, including organic solar cells and Lego wind resistance vehicles! Q.UNI will have solar airships, lever games, and water boats on display. 🕵️♂️🚀
Knowledge vs. Discussion: The MS Wissenschaft Unites Brains and Ingenuity
Looking for a thought-provoking talk? At 17:00, join the "Meet the Scientist" format, where Prof. Elmar Brügging (FH Münster) discusses the Bioenergy Park Saerbeck, a real-life testbed for 100% renewable energies. At 18:00, settle in for an interdisciplinary discussion round "Knowledge Drives Change", where experts from science, communication, and business chat about implementing research findings in practice! Participants include Prof. Helena Stehle (Communication Science, Uni Münster), Dr.-Ing. Saskia Wessel (Fraunhofer IST/FFB), and Jesko von Stechow (Board of Westfalen AG).
In this session, they'll tackle challenges in knowledge transfer, dealing with uncertainty, and success factors for implementing research findings. You'll walk away with not only a deeper understanding of current debates, but also inspiration for your own contribution to the energy transition. 🌱💪
