Enhancing Food Security and Sustainability: MOCCAE Inks Significant Strategic Deals

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has forged seven strategic alliances during the Emirates Agriculture Conference and Exhibition 2025 in Al Ain, with the aim of enhancing sustainable food security, promoting local agriculture, and fostering environmental sustainability.

The agreements, inked at the ADNEC Centre over the conference's first two days, were witnessed by Minister Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahuk. These partnerships align with the UAE's ambitious plans to become a global leader in sustainable agriculture and food systems.

One such agreement between MOCCAE and Silal involves the creation of a data-driven, sustainable food strategy to improve health and long-term food security. Another wheat deal, this time with Barakat and the Lulu Group, focuses on reducing food waste, promoting environmentally-friendly packaging, and expanding retail access for local produce.

The National Agriculture Centre also signed several MoUs, one with Lulu Retail to support accredited local farmers, and another with Khalifa University to develop agricultural innovation through research, funding, and mentorship.

MOCCAE also partnered with the Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence to establish a new AI research lab aimed at improving agricultural technologies. Collaboration with the University of Sharjah, Khalifa University, University of Khorfakkan, and University of Al Dhaid will drive joint agricultural research and capacity building initiatives.

A pact was signed with the Islamic Development Bank Group to reinforce support for the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture.

In totality, these accords underscore MOCCAE's commitment to revolutionizing the UAE's food systems through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable practices. The UAE recognizes the substantial roles of sponsors, partners, farmers, and youth in this sector, appreciating their contributions to its transformation and innovation for sustainable food security.

The UAE is taking a strategic, collaborative approach to ensure a secure, sustainable, and innovative agricultural sector that supports national food security goals and environmental sustainability agendas for future generations.
