On the 5th of September, 2025, the high-performance computer "Jupiter" was inaugurated in Jülich, Germany. The supercomputer, manufactured by Eviden, a business unit of the Atos Group, marks a significant step forward in Germany's ambition to move into the top tier of high-performance computers.

The inauguration was attended by Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Federal Research Minister Dorothee Bär, who also viewed the Jupiter Booster partition. The event was seen as an opportunity to showcase Germany's commitment to advancing technology and digital innovation.

According to Bitkom President Dr. Ralf Wintergerst, "Jupiter" could give AI development in Germany a real boost. Access to "Jupiter" is intended to be made as straightforward as possible for startups and established companies, making it accessible for a wide range of AI research and development.
