EU, Argentina Strengthen Energy Ties with Clean Transition MoU
The EU and Argentina have strengthened their energy ties with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the EU-CELAC Summit. The agreement, signed by high-level officials from both sides, focuses on enhancing cooperation in clean energy transition and energy security.
The MoU centres around developing renewable energy, energy efficiency, and hydrogen use for various sectors, including industry, transportation, and energy storage. This aligns with the EU-LAC Global Gateway Investment Agenda, aiming to boost a fair green and digital transition.
Both parties are committed to a just energy transition, ensuring local communities' interests are respected. Additionally, they aim to reduce methane leakages in the fossil gas supply chain to the maximum technically feasible level, demonstrating their dedication to environmental responsibility.
The EU and Argentina have a well-established energy dialogue, with this MoU further cementing their cooperation. By working together on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and hydrogen, both parties strive to advance towards a sustainable future while ensuring a fair transition for all.
