EU, Indonesia Finalize CEPA: Palm Oil Exports to Boom, EU Gains Access to Key Resources

After nearly a decade of talks, the EU and Indonesia have finalised the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This deal promises to benefit over 700 million consumers through tariff elimination and open new markets for goods like palm oil.

The CEPA, concluded recently, is set to significantly boost Indonesian palm oil exports to the EU. Next year, these exports could reach around four million tonnes, thanks to reduced costs for the industry. The agreement also grants the EU broader access to Indonesia's key resources, including nickel, and digital services.

The impact on the Chinese semiconductor sector remains unclear, as no specific information was found regarding any strengthening of Chinese ambitions in this area due to the CEPA with Indonesia.

The EU-Indonesia CEPA is poised to bring substantial economic gains, particularly for the palm oil industry and consumers on both sides. However, the agreement's influence on Chinese semiconductor ambitions remains uncertain.
