Expanded Touch Screens with Physical Button Feeling from LG, Introducing a 57-inch Display

LG Display is set to showcase its latest advancements in automotive display technology at the SID Display Week 2025, a global exhibition dedicated to display industry advancements. The event, taking place in San Jose, California from May 13, will feature LG Display's groundbreaking innovations designed to redefine the in-vehicle experience.

At the forefront of these innovations is LG Display's Stretchable Display solution. This flexible screen can expand by up to 50 percent, opening up possibilities for future mobility design by allowing for more flexible and adaptable interfaces. The Stretchable display solution has been integrated into a car's center fascia, replacing traditional screens and physical buttons with a transformable display surface.

Another highlight is the 18-inch Slidable OLED display, which retracts into the ceiling when not in use. This display offers a large screen for viewing movies or playing games, making it an ideal solution for rear seat entertainment (RSE). LG Display's Slidable OLED models have been engineered for harsh automotive conditions, remaining functional in temperatures from -40°C to 85°C.

LG Display will also present its Ultra-Large Pillar-to-Pillar (P2P) Displays, the largest automotive P2P display as a single panel, measuring 57 inches. This display spans across the dashboard, enhancing the infotainment system of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).

In addition, LG Display is introducing Switchable Privacy Mode (SPM), a first in the industry, to address driver distraction concerns with larger in-car displays. SPM ensures that media remains invisible from the driver's viewpoint while front-seat passengers enjoy games or video content, enhancing safety without compromising entertainment.

LG Display's theme for the event is "Driving the Future," reflecting its commitment to leading the charge towards a smarter, more immersive driving future. Each technology in LG Display's automotive portfolio supports the mission to deliver premium visual experiences within vehicles while meeting the functional demands of the road.

Keuk-sang Kwon, Head of the Auto Business Group at LG Display, stated that LG Display aims to set a new benchmark for the automotive display industry and redefine the digital cockpit of tomorrow. The company's automotive portfolio is built on a strong foundation of technical milestones, including Tandem OLED displays, P-OLED, Advanced Thin OLED (ATO), and LTPS LCD.

The innovations aim to enhance the in-vehicle experience by offering large, high-resolution displays for a more immersive experience, improving integration with SDVs, expanding design flexibility, and enhancing reliability and durability. LG Display's showcase at SID Display Week 2025 is not just a glimpse into what's next, but a showcase of technologies that create new possibilities for design and utility in vehicles.
