Title: Shrink Down and Take Over: Deep Dive into 'Grounded 2'

Brace yourselves, gamers! This year's Xbox Games Showcase gave us a surreal surprise in the form of Grounded 2, and it's bound to blow your minds! You might be thinking, "Wait, what about Obsidian Entertainment's other projects like Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2?" Hell, yeah, those are coming too, but let's focus on why Grounded 2 is all the buzz right now.

First off, let's kick things off with a lil' history lesson. Grounded hit early access in 2020 and had a sweet run, garnering numerous updates en route to its 1.0 release. Surprisingly, a full-blown sequel was already in the making by the time you could start ruling the backyard in the original Grounded. But why rush a sequel before the first one even reaches full maturity you ask? Well, the fans freakin' begged for it! Melty-brained enthusiasts decked out in bug costumes banged on their keyboards non-stop, leaving no room for the team to say no.

Now, let's talk about the world of Grounded 2. Brookhollow Park is the name of the game this time around, and it's a whole lot bigger than before. The opening area of the early access release is reported to be the same size of the complete map from the original Grounded. If that doesn't sound impressive enough, get ready for this - when Grounded 2 finally bows out, the map is said to be a whopping three times larger! And trust us, 30 minutes wasn't enough for us to exhaust all this vast land had to offer. Spiders, tunnels, and iced beverage containers, oh my!

Calling Grounded 2 a sequel is like calling a dump truck a family car. Sure, the core mechanics are much the same, but the world has been expanded to heck and back. One key difference, however, is the introduction of rideable creatures like ants and, presumably, spiders (because who wouldn't want to ride a monsterified arachnid?). But why not just add this feature to the original you might think? Well, turns out, the reason is as simple as it is revolutionary - it's the number one requested feature by the fans!

The mounts are more than just a cute little bonus, the Grounded 2 team wanted them to flesh out the entire experience. You can now craft with an ant buggie, ride it, and use it to fight off enemies. Who knew navigating the backyard could be such an adventure? Ants aren't the only mounts available either, as the team hinted that spiders might make an appearance as well.

30 minutes with Grounded 2 left us squarely back in the original Grounded loop - hacking through grass, battling pesky bugs, and nestling in a protective base against terrifying giant insects. But make no mistake, it's a whole new world this time around. The graphics are absolutely jaw-dropping, especially on the Xbox Series X/S and PC. From the warm sunlight filtering through the blades of grass to the intricate details adorning the bugs and the landscape, Grounded 2 is sure to leave you slack-jawed.

Who needs a new world when you can return to one you already love? According to Executive Producer Marcus Morgan, the team can't get enough of making content for Grounded, and they had plenty left to explore. Grounded 2 releases into early access on July 29 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, so strap on those shrinking suits and get ready to conquer the backyard once again!

The sequel to the popular game Grounded, titled Grounded 2, showcases an expansive new world that boasts a larger map and introduces rideable creatures like ants, heralding a new phase in technology-driven gadgetry. Fans strongly advocated for this sequel, creating a demand that the developers couldn't ignore.
