Nothing Phone 3 Launches: A Challenger in the Flagship Market

After much anticipation, Nothing's flagship Phone 3 was officially unveiled on July 1, 2025. Pre-orders commenced on July 4, with the full market release slated for July 15, 2025.

The Phone 3, Nothing's first real flagship-level device, boasts a unique design featuring a circular matrix screen on the back, replacing the previous LED strips of the glyph interface. It is equipped with four 50MP cameras (wide, ultrawide, periscope telephoto, and selfie), powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, and boasts a large 5,150mAh silicon-carbon battery.

Pricing for the Phone 3 in the US is $799 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and $899 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB model. In India, the price starts at ₹79,999 for 12GB + 256GB, with a ₹5,000 instant discount and a free Nothing Headphone (1) worth ₹19,999 included on pre-orders.

In addition to the Phone 3, Nothing announced a beta for Android 16 (Nothing OS 4.0) for the Phone 3, expected to start rolling out in early August 2025, enhancing the phone’s software experience.

The company is also partnering with KEF, a well-established hi-fi audio brand. The collaboration may result in a hi-fi audio product, possibly a pair of over-ear headphones or a full-on speaker. This expansion into over-ear headphones could be a competitor in the premium audio market, potentially challenging products like the AirPods Max or Sony WH-1000XM6.

However, whether Nothing has the acumen, resources, and clout to compete in the flagship arena is uncertain. The first-ever over-ear entrant from Nothing will likely be the company's most expensive audio product to date, with speakers, often associated with hi-fi audio, tend to start at prices inching toward $1,000+.

Carl Pei, Nothing's CEO, teased another upcoming product in the phone category, hinting at further expansion for the company. The specifics of the over-ear headphones are yet to be revealed, with more details expected in the coming months.
