Ford Pro, the leading global commercial vehicle brand, has announced a series of new software and technology features designed to enhance the management of commercial and government fleets.

At the heart of these innovations is the Upfit Integration System (UIS), a groundbreaking solution that simplifies the upfitting process of commercial vehicles. The UIS eliminates the need for aftermarket modules, hard switches, and secondary control panels, making it easier than ever to customize commercial vehicles to meet specific business needs.

One of the standout features of the UIS is the Sub Compartment Lock. This innovative system allows drivers to lock and unlock compartments containing equipment or cargo using a touchscreen button, door code, or key fob. This added security measure ensures that valuable goods are protected during transit.

The video telematics solution, a collaboration with Samsara, is another key component of Ford Pro's next-generation cloud-connected fleet technologies. The solution uses a windshield-mounted, cloud-connected dashcam to capture both road-facing and in-cab footage. This data can be used for various purposes, including incident evidence, coaching drivers, and strengthening insurance claims.

Fleet managers will also benefit from features such as Fleet Start Inhibit, which allows them to remotely disable the start of their vehicles, creating recurring and one-time schedules or sending commands remotely to secure fleet vehicles from unauthorized use. The available Vehicle Security app allows fleet managers to trigger a vehicle alarm remotely and create security alerts, such as alerts when a vehicle is started away from its last location or when a door is opened during certain time windows.

The new Vehicle Motion Inhibit Control feature is another safety measure designed to prevent vehicles from being shifted into gear while upfit equipment is deployed. This ensures the safety of drivers and passengers, as well as the integrity of the equipment during transit.

Adam McCarty, Senior Vice President at Lytx, expressed his excitement about being part of Ford Pro's next-generation cloud-connected fleet technologies. He stated, "I'm thrilled to be part of this innovative initiative that's set to revolutionize the way we manage commercial fleets."

Dwight Delgado, Ford Pro Intelligence sales manager, highlighted the importance of Ford Pro Telematics in fleet management. He stated, "Ford Pro Telematics has proven to be invaluable in protecting our customers' investments. It saved the day for a commercial customer recently, preventing a potential loss of $200,000 in vehicle and equipment and minimizing business disruption."

These features integrate connected vehicle data into the Ford Pro Intelligence platform, providing fleet managers with a new level of insight and control over their vehicles. Embedded modems have been standard on Ford commercial vehicles since 2020, enabling access to telematics features and their benefits. Activating these modems is essential to accessing the telematics features and realizing their benefits.

Ford Pro continues to be America's best-selling line of commercial vehicles for 38 consecutive years. With these new software and technology features, the company is poised to continue setting the standard in the commercial vehicle industry.
