Fujifilm's Instax Mini 41: A New Affordable Instant Camera Option

Fujifilm is set to release a new point-and-shoot instant camera, the Instax Mini 41, at the end of April. The camera is expected to retail at around $130 in the US, marking a 30% increase compared to its previous model.

The Instax Mini 41 boasts a rounded gunmetal gray body, resembling a vintage hip flask in size (approximately twice as thick). It has dimensions of 4.8 by 4 by 2.4 inches and weighs approximately 12.2 oz without batteries. The camera is described as having a "cute" appearance, though it is less "cutesy" than the Instax Mini 12.

One of the key improvements in the Instax Mini 41 is its focus clarity, which is enhanced with parallax correction. The camera also features automatic exposure for adjusting light levels. It has two manual focus zones for both up-close and slightly further away shots, making it versatile for various photography needs.

The Instax Mini 41 uses Instax mini film, which is sold separately for around $21 for a pack of 20. The camera's lens has a wide angle view equivalent to a 35mm, offering a broad perspective for your photos.

It's worth noting that the price increase for the Instax Mini 41 may be influenced by tariffs affecting imports and production costs, although Fujifilm has not explicitly confirmed the tariffs as the cause. This price hike is notable in the US, contrasting with a slight price drop in the UK market, indicating factors such as tariffs or trade conditions may impact US pricing specifically.

In comparison, the Instax Mini 99, which was released in the previous year, has a mid-range zoom and more features, retailing at $200. The Instax Mini 41, with its more affordable price point, positions itself as a more accessible instant camera option for many.

As of Tuesday morning, the product page for the Instax Mini 41 is not yet available in the U.S. A representative from Fujifilm stated that U.S. pricing will be announced soon. Keep an eye out for updates as we approach the end of April!
