- Announce Changes:
Make sure the player knows exactly when something important happens. Rowdy visual and audio cues send a crystal-clear message.
Example: Showing a red notification when taking damage, or a flashing symbol to indicate a digital lock has been unlocked.
- Consistent Change:
Don't bore players with monotony. Shake things up with multiple simultaneous events at any given moment.
Level design example: Enabling players to craft multiple items from a list.
System design example: A robot army marches while a boss fight ensues, all while a narrative unfolds.
- Believability:
The player needs to trust the game's logic and behavior. Everything must flow smoothly and fit perfectly within the game's world.
