Google Launches Search Live for Real-Time, Camera-Aware Conversations
Google has introduced Search Live, a new feature that brings real-time, camera-aware conversations to the Google app on Android and iOS. This feature is initially available in English in the United States, with more languages and regions planned for the future. Users can access Search Live through the Google app or Google Lens, with camera sharing enabled by default in Lens.
Search Live offers practical use cases such as hands-free trip planning, quick how-to guidance, step-by-step troubleshooting, support for school projects, and real-time product comparison. It allows users to tap the new Live icon under the search bar or open Google Lens and choose Live to start an interactive voice conversation that can also see what the camera sees.
Rajan Patel, VP of Engineering for Search at Google, announced the launch of Search Live on X. This move is part of Google's push to make everyday search more interactive and hands-free, moving queries from typed text to camera and voice, with answers arriving while people are actively engaged in tasks.
With the launch of Search Live, Google aims to enhance user experience by providing real-time, camera-aware assistance. Local businesses are advised to keep their storefront photos, product imagery, and key details up-to-date as users can now point, ask, and get links in real time.
