Grove Collaborative Acquires Grab Green: A Step Forward for Sustainable Home Essentials
Grove Collaborative purchases Grab Green, adding its eco-friendly home cleaning products to its offerings.
In exciting news announced on Tuesday, Grove Collaborative has officially acquired eco-friendly cleaning products company Grab Green, strengthening its commitment to greener household solutions.
This latest move significantly bolsters Grove's existing array of over 280 sustainable brands, selling everything from cleaning essentials to personal care products, health and wellness items, laundry supplies, clean beauty essentials, baby and pet care supplies, and much more.
"Grab Green and Grove share a passion for sustainability and creating safe, eco-friendly alternatives for everyday essentials," said Jeff Yurcisin, CEO of Grove Collaborative, in a statement. "This acquisition aligns perfectly with our mission to reduce the environmental impact of household items, and we're thrilled to welcome Grab Green into the Grove family."
Known for their non-toxic, sustainable cleaning products, Grab Green's offerings complement Grove's commitment to eliminating single-use plastics from our environment.
Patricia Spencer and Michael Edell, co-founders of Grab Green, will join Grove Collaborative in advisory roles, helping to facilitate integration and product development.
The deal follows a 2019 partnership between the two companies, with Grab Green becoming a third-party vendor for Grove.
Amidst the celebrations, it's worth noting that Grove Collaborative is currently navigating some financial challenges. Yurcisin took on the CEO role in 2023, inheriting a brand with debt and a decline in revenues. However, the company has paid down $42 million of term debt and secured a capital investment from Volition Capital.
In a bid to cut costs and boost revenue, Grove Collaborative has transitioned to Shopify, phasing out its wholesale brick-and-mortar partnerships, and axing a significant portion of its workforce. In its most recent quarter, Grove reported a net revenue decline of about 22%, but a narrowed net loss of $1.3 million compared to the previous year.
Despite these challenges, Grove Collaborative remains optimistic, anticipating revenue improvements through strategic initiatives and partnerships like the acquisition of Grab Green.
