Heidekreis Hit by Sophisticated Car Thefts Targeting Keyless Vehicles
Heidekreis has seen an increase in car thefts, with luxury vehicles being the main targets. The local Police Station has reported numerous incidents involving vehicles equipped with Ford's Keyless Comfort systems, which criminals are exploiting using advanced technology.
Ford's Keyless Comfort system, intended for convenience, has a notable security weakness. Thieves use relay devices to capture the key signal from inside homes, often hundreds of meters away. Once the signal is captured, a second device is used to unlock and start the vehicle. The Police Crime Prevention Council has warned against relying on these systems for vehicle security.
The stolen vehicles are often equipped with Ford's Keyless Comfort locking system. While the specific individuals or groups responsible for these thefts in Heidekreis remain unknown, the method suggests a sophisticated criminal network exploiting this vulnerability.
The Police Station in Heidekreis urges vehicle owners to take precautions, such as parking in secure, well-lit areas and considering alternative security measures. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for these thefts.
