High Demand for Popular Fujifilm Camera Leads to Price Increase
Fujifilm has announced that it will be increasing the prices of its X-series cameras, effective August 1, 2025. The price hikes, which range between 8% and 15%, are primarily a response to U.S. tariffs introduced earlier this year rather than the latest 15% tariff deal with Japan.
The Fujifilm X100VI, a popular model, will see a price increase of $200, rising from $1,599 to $1,799 in the U.S. market. Other popular X-series models such as the X-T5, X-T50, and X-M5 will also experience increases, mostly around the 8-9% range.
Fujifilm delayed these increases longer than its competitors by shifting some production back to Japan from China to minimize tariff impact. However, the company ultimately had to pass along costs to consumers. This increase marks the first from Fujifilm since these tariffs and could potentially be the beginning of further gradual price adjustments.
It's worth noting that Leica, Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Sigma have all raised prices after tariffs went into effect in April. The X-E5, an X100VI-like camera with a swappable lens, is not on the list of cameras with price hikes. As of now, the Fujifilm X100VI camera is listed on Amazon for well over $2,000.
The Fujifilm X100VI is an expensive camera, boasting a 40.2-megapixel sensor and Fuji's film simulation filters, known for taking beautiful shots even with relatively novice skills. The new Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the X-T50 is $1,600, an increase from $1,400.
As of Aug. 1, all cameras in the X-series, including the X-T5, X-T50, and X-M5, will have price hikes. Fujifilm's GFX lineup of professional cameras also saw price hikes between $500 and $800. Fujifilm manufactures some of its cameras and components outside of Japan.
President Donald Trump inked a trade deal with Japan, reducing import taxes from 25% to 15%. However, any levy reductions won't be a balm to all of Fujifilm's recent price hike-related wounds. Moment, an online camera retailer, confirmed the new pricing details in a blog post published on Friday.
PetaPixel first reported on the price bump for the X-series cameras. Fujifilm is one of the last camera companies to increase prices since the start of this year. The X100VI left many interested buyers on months-long preorder benders or shopping for used cameras at prices above the MSRP. The Fujifilm X-E5 mirrorless camera, priced at $1,700 for the body and $1,900 with an XF23mm lens, is not on the list of cameras with price hikes. Fujifilm's site lists the X-E5 as "out of stock," while B&H lists it as "up for preorder."
