High-Level Meeting Yields Energy Sector Cooperation: Nuclear, Renewables, and Refining Projects
A high-level meeting between the two countries has resulted in significant cooperation in the energy sector. The head of state and the Chairman of China discussed nuclear energy, leading to several agreements.
Both nations agreed to become strategic partners in the nuclear industry. CNNC will be involved, with a zoom meeting planned with its leadership. The head of state noted that special attention was given to this sector in their discussion.
Several renewable energy projects will be implemented with Chinese companies. China Power International Holding and China Energy will collaborate on these initiatives. Additionally, a polyethylene production plant is being built in the Atyrau region with Sinopec. This plant will have a capacity of 1.25 million tons per year and required an investment of $7.4 billion.
The modernization of the oil refinery in Shymkent is also on the agenda. This project will be undertaken with Sinopec. Furthermore, a combined-cycle power plant in the Mangystau region is being constructed with China Huadian Corporation, with a capacity of 160 MW.
Interaction in the energy sector was the second priority in the zoom meeting. Plans to attract Chinese technologies and train specialists in the nuclear industry were discussed. The activities of the SANY corporation on the market were also acknowledged.
