New Gleyber Torres Hybrid Offers Emission-Free, Electric Driving
Korean automaker KGM (formerly SsangYong Motor) has expanded its powertrain lineup with the introduction of the full hybrid Gleyber Torres Hybrid. This new model, which is part of KGM's comprehensive product and powertrain offensive for its growth plans on the German and European markets, offers a hybrid powertrain that allows for local, emission-free driving up to a speed of 100 km/h, thanks to a compact 1.85-kWh hybrid battery.
The hybrid powertrain in the Gleyber Torres Hybrid combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 110 kW/150 PS and a 130 kW/177 PS electric motor. The battery is fed by the internal combustion engine or the regenerative braking system, depending on power demand and driving mode.
In parallel mode, the electric motor and internal combustion engine work together for faster acceleration or higher speeds. On the other hand, in serial mode, the internal combustion engine acts as a generator driving the electric motor. The hybrid transmission DHT automatically sends the driving force to the front wheels.
The Gleyber Torres Hybrid's top speed is 180 km/h, and according to the WLTP standard, it has a fuel consumption of 6.1 liters per 100 kilometers, corresponding to CO2 emissions of 139 g/km. This makes it the first hybrid model from the South Korean brand.
An indicator in the digital instrument cluster provides information on the current mode and energy flow in the Gleyber Torres Hybrid. The regenerative braking system's strength can be adjusted in three stages, offering drivers control over the vehicle's energy efficiency.
The new Gleyber Torres Hybrid special edition "Essential" starts at €32,990. The hybrid powertrain will also be offered for the SUV coupé Actyon at a later stage. The Torres Hybrid is a significant step forward in KGM's commitment to sustainable mobility, offering consumers a practical and eco-friendly driving option.
