Hyundai Marks 40 Years of Sonata with Heritage Campaign

Hyundai Motor Company is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Sonata with a special heritage campaign. The event will include a book talk for the magazine 'Retrace: Stellar & Sonata' at Hyundai Motorstudio Seoul on October 18, 2025.

The campaign, titled 'By Your Side - Stellar & Sonata', revisits the connection between the Sonata and its predecessor, the Stellar. It began with an immersive exhibition held at Piknic in Seoul from September 25, 2025, to January 4, 2026. The exhibition featured a restored Stellar 88 Special Edition and a heritage archive showcasing the evolution of the Stellar into the Sonata. The event was preceded by a previous exhibition in 2022, 'By Your Side – Stellar & Sonata', held at the Daelim Museum in Seoul. This exhibition was a collaboration between Stellar (Sooyoung) and Sonata (Taeyeon), members of Girls’ Generation (SNSD).

The 'Retrace Magazine: Stellar & Sonata' features interviews, essays, and columns reflecting on the history of Stellar and Sonata. Special merchandise, including the magazine, notebooks, and postcards, will be available during the exhibition and at Hyundai Motorstudio locations.

The Hyundai Stellar was first introduced in 1983, marking the beginning of Hyundai's mid-size sedan lineup. Over eight generations, the Sonata has evolved into one of Hyundai's most successful global models, with cumulative sales nearing 10 million units worldwide. The 'By Your Side - Stellar & Sonata' campaign celebrates this history and looks forward to the future of Hyundai's sedan lineup.
