Immersive Audio Experience at Museum of the Bible: 360-Degree Surround Sound Techniques Implemented

At the heart of the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., lies an awe-inspiring exhibit - All Creation Sings. This 45-minute immersive worship experience, inspired by Psalm 148, has left crowds enveloped in its moving and engaging atmosphere.

The secret behind this captivating experience lies in the state-of-the-art technology used to create it. At the forefront is L-Acoustics' L-ISA immersive sound system, a technology designed to deliver spatialized, three-dimensional audio experiences.

The installation includes sixteen X8i coaxial loudspeakers, four KS21 subs, and seven LA2Xi amplified controllers. Each LA2Xi controller drives four loudspeakers, ensuring a seamless and consistent sound throughout the entire exhibit space.

Skylark AV and L-Acoustics did the final mix in-room for All Creation Sings, ensuring that every element perfectly matches the visuals. James Rudder, L-ISA application engineer at L-Acoustics, used an L-ISA Processor II for onsite spatial mixing during the installation.

The X8i speakers, with their low-profile design, produce a surprisingly robust low-frequency response, while the four KS21 subs, centrally located adjacent to the large columns in the middle of the room, deliver a powerful and immersive bass.

Signals for the exhibit are routed from Disguise D3 media servers via Dante, converted to AES with Q-SYS, and then sent one-to-one per speaker. This meticulous routing process ensures a flawless and cohesive sound experience.

L-ISA's immersive audio mixing capabilities were used to create a fully immersive sound experience in All Creation Sings, with spatial objects carefully placed to complement the visuals. This technology, suitable for fixed environments where the audio content doesn't change, enhances creativity and delivers an exceptional audience experience.

Joel Conrad, Museum of the Bible IT interactive systems manager, was impressed with the sound quality of L-Acoustics loudspeakers in All Creation Sings. The exhibit showcases how L-ISA technology can be used in scenarios with technical or budgetary considerations, opening up new possibilities for immersive audio in a wide range of venues and applications.

In the grand scheme of the Museum of the Bible's extensive collection of biblical artifacts, All Creation Sings stands out as a shining example of how technology can be used to create immersive, moving, and engaging experiences for visitors. For those seeking a deeper understanding of L-Acoustics L-ISA technology's specific effects on the All Creation Sings exhibit, consulting official Museum of the Bible publications, press releases, or L-Acoustics case studies on this project would be necessary.

The immersive worship experience, All Creation Sings, in the Museum of the Bible, is a showcase of technology that emphasizes data-and-cloud-computing through the use of advanced L-ISA immersive sound system and Disguise D3 media servers. This technology, featuring L-Acoustics' X8i speakers and KS21 subs, offers gadgets like the L-ISA Processor II for spatial mixing, enhancing the museum's installations and delivering a truly immersive audio experience.
