"Increase Power Consumption with Minimum Energy Requirements"
Five Energy Startups Advance in the "Accelerate Power" Program
The "Accelerate Power" program, a joint initiative by RWE Power and the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, is supporting the growth and development of energy startups in the Rhine region. The program aims to accelerate innovation and development in the energy sector, with a focus on clean and sustainable energy technologies.
Five startups have advanced to the final round of the program, following three months of intensive phases that included workshops and individual coaching sessions. The finalists include CerBaTech, Solid Plant, Chargeunity, HeatbrAIn, and Minimum Energy.
Tilman Bechthold, head of research and development at RWE Power, expressed his admiration for the finalists of the program. He highlighted the potential of these startups to provide important impulses for the future of the energy sector.
Throughout the program, the participating startups have been guided by experts and mentors from business and science. They have been provided with resources, mentoring, and networking opportunities to drive innovation and technology development in renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen, and other clean energy solutions.
CerBaTech's business model involves ceramic sodium solid-state batteries as an alternative to lithium-ion. Solid Plant focuses on creating bio-based industrial materials from hemp plants. Chargeunity is a crowdfunding platform for end customers at public charging stations. HeatbrAIn specializes in data processing for projects accelerating the heat transition. Minimum energy's business model fits the profile of the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, which has a strong energy industry and energy-intensive businesses.
The final event was opened by Robert Abts, head of economic development for the Rhein-Kreis Neuss. The winner of the "Accelerate Power" program will receive a €5,000 prize and the opportunity to work for twelve months at the "Innovation Center" of the district. All participating startups have the chance to join the Kreiswirtschaftsförderung and RWE at the "Future Tech" festival on September 11th.
The "Accelerate Power" program is a thematic continuation of the "accelerate_rkn" program. It was initiated in March with the goal of strengthening energy startups in the Rhine region and bringing innovative business models to market maturity. This program aligns with broader regional goals seen in initiatives such as hydrogen infrastructure development and clean lithium production in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, which aim at making the Rhine region a hub for the future energy economy.
