India Launches New E-Arrival Card for Smooth Airport Entry
India introduces a new, hassle-free system for international visitors. The e-arrival card, launched to streamline airport procedures, requires no document uploads or fees. It's now mandatory for all foreign nationals, except Indian citizens and OCI cardholders.
The e-arrival card system, accessible via the Indian visa online portal, must be completed 72 to 24 hours before a flight's departure. It replaces the traditional paper disembarkation form, making the arrival process smoother.
The online form asks for basic information like passport number, nationality, purpose of visit, Indian address, and contact details. Industry experts hail this move as a significant step towards making India's airports more traveller-friendly. By providing immigration officers with traveller data ahead of time, it aims to ease congestion at major airports.
The e-arrival card system is now mandatory for all foreign visitors to India. Completing the digital process between 72 and 24 hours before a flight is free of charge. Those who skip this step may face longer immigration queues upon arrival.
