Indra to Pioneer C-V2X Tolling on I-485 Express Lanes in North Carolina

Indra, a global technology and consulting company, has been selected by the North Carolina Turnpike Authority (NCTA) to pioneer a new toll payment system for connected vehicles equipped with V2X technology. The initiative, set to debut on the I-485 Express Lanes, promises enhanced road safety and convenience for drivers.

The project, led by Indra's C-V2X tolling solution, will enable true interoperability. Drivers will receive toll information and historical data directly on their dashboards, eliminating the need for mobile applications or additional devices. This innovative approach combines C-V2X with Indra's advanced 3D LiDAR perception and processing technology, reusing existing tolling V2X infrastructure to boost road safety.

The NCTA, under the guidance of Executive Director J.J. Eden, has chosen Indra for this groundbreaking project. The I-485 Express Lanes will be the first highway in the U.S. to integrate C-V2X tolling technology, setting a new standard for connected vehicles.

Indra's connected vehicle tolling solution (C-V2X Toll) is set to transform the I-485 Express Lanes in North Carolina. By delivering toll information directly to drivers' dashboards and enhancing safety through advanced technology, this initiative aims to create a more convenient and future-proof transportation network.
