Instagram Brings Location Sharing to Europe
Instagram has introduced a new feature allowing users in Germany and Europe to share their location within the app. The photo-sharing platform, owned by Meta, is now offering users the ability to share their current location on a map, similar to rival Snapchat.
Previously, users might have been uncertain about whether their location was being shared. Now, a persistent indicator clearly shows when location sharing is active. This feature has been available in the US for around two months and is now being rolled out across Europe, including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Initially, location sharing is turned off by default. Users can choose to enable it and select who they want to share their location with. They can also exclude specific locations from sharing, ensuring privacy and control.
